Optimal Localization of Solar Panel for Better Energy Utilization

Abstract: In this advancing era of technology we are more concerned about the advancements made in technology rather than thinking upon the alternative sources of energy. Decreasing in the amount of non-renewable sources of energy and increasing in the consumption of the energy as per growth in technology we are trying to find newer ways to extract more amount of energy on renewable sources. Since, as solar energy which is also considered a renewable form of energy can be used to offset some of the power coming from the main grid that is generated by let us say non-renewable sources of energy, and creating these renewable sources in such a way that these provide us with the maximum efficiency is our main goal. This paper proposes a solar tracking system designed with microcontroller and light detecting sensors say LDR’s that will actively track the position of sun and change the position of solar panel’s position accordingly to maximize the energy output. The other LDR incorporated on solar panel helps to detect day or night.

A Meta-Heuristic Evolutionary Algorithm to Optimize Machining Parameters in Turning AISI 4340 Steel

Abstract: In this work, optimization of machining parameters cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut is performed during turning AISI 4340 steel with uncoated carbide cutting inserts. An L9(33) Orthogonal Array is chosen based on Taguchi’s Design of Experiments and the output responses flank wear, surface roughness and Material Removal Rate (MRR) were measured. Empirical models representing the output responses are developed using linear regression models. A metaheuristic evolutionary algorithm, Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) is applied to determine the optimum set of machining parameters for minimizing flank wear and maximizing MRR considering the surface roughness values within a specific limit (constraint). Pareto optimal front comprising of a set of solutions is obtained between the objective functions. From the results obtained, it is observed that NSGA-II can be used for predicting the machining parameters and output responses with at most precision showing the supremacy of the algorithm.

Failure Design Investigation of the role of Crack Stopper Strap and Bulk-head in Wide Fuselage Aircraft

Abstract: The paper describes the static stress & damage tolerance calculations performed on a center body fuselage panel of a medium passenger airplane subjected to pressure loading. Stress calculations of each and every component, if performed manually will become herculean task for the stress engineer. Instead, FEA software can be used to perform these calculations immediately and effectively. For our purpose, we are using the commonly approved „MSC NASTRAN‟ as a solver and MSC PATRAN for pre-processing & post-processing. During the analysis, primarily a fuselage panel with a longitudinal two bay crack is modeled and the stress values are obtained. The same model is then analyzed with a tear strap added to it. The residual strength of both of the models is obtained and the damage tolerance capability of the design is studied.

Localized Energy-Aware Restricted Neighbourhood Routing in Multihop Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: In the recent years, research has been increased towards wireless sensor network in various fields. It consists of thousands of small and low cost sensors with limited power, computation, storage and communication capabilities. The nodes have limited initial amounts of energy that is consumed in different rates depending on the power level and the intended receiver. Energy conservation and Scalability are probably two most critical issues in designing protocols for multihop wireless networks. The protocols developed for these networks should be energy efficient and also scalable. Geographical routing algorithms are known to be scalable but their energy efficiency has never been comparatively studied. In geographical routing algorithm, the packets are forwarded by a node to its neighbour based on their respective energy. We propose an algorithm named Localized Energy-Aware Restricted Neighbourhood routing (LEARN) which finds route for any source and destination pairs asymptotically and guarantee the energy efficiency of its route if it finds the route successfully.

A Robotic Surgery Exploration Arrangement for Hepatic Microwave Coagulation Therapy

Abstract: This paper counseled a needle insertion robotic surgery arrangement for hepatic microwave coagulation of liver tumors. The arrangement might compensate the impact provoked by the patient’s respiratory motion. The arrangement includes a needle insertion robot, a surgical arranging subsystem, a magnetic pursuing mechanism and a stereo vision system. In order to encounter the frank necessity of the arrangement, inserting the needle precisely to the target, we counseled a method in this paper. First, a patient body fixation method was utilized to cut unintentional patient movement. Then, stereo vision method was utilized to trail the markers on the patient’s body surface.
